MIT and CC&S add "Green value to the box".
CC&S Press room- September 22, 2008.
Keeping supply chain costs under control has been a difficult challenge during last years for container industry players. Now shippers and carriers are facing another challenge: limiting the environmental impact of the international goods movement.
Container Consultants & Systems (CC&S) will be working together with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation & Logistics (MIT-CTL) on a research initiative that CC&S has called 'Green value to the Box'. MIT-CTL research, initially sponsored by CC&S, will find out how optimization of the current container movement processes can reduce the actual carbon emissions of the movement of goods. The result of the study will contribute to finding the best options to reduce emissions during the entire circle of containerized cargo transportation. An example of similar research is the empty container movement optimization possible through the implementation of Mv-Fleet™, an innovative system to reduce empty container movements through collaboration developed by CC&S and implemented by several shipping lines. These studies will help shippers and carriers to communicate to customers and other stakeholders their efforts on carbon footprint reduction.
Maritime Transportation expert recognizes Mv-Fleet contribution
From CC&S Press Room - July 30th, 2008
A highly experienced maritime systems expert from Stevens Institute of Technology, Thomas H. Wakeman III, visited Container Consultants & Systems (CC&S) Support Center to understand Mv-Fleet's role in the container supply chain.
His visit contributed to reinforce Mv-Fleet meaning for the industry - 'compete and share' - which according to him is increasingly applicable to the international maritime freight transportation providers in the 21st century; an industry that is facing the most challenging years ever seen.
Before returning to his activities in New Jersey, Mr. Wakeman expressed following thought:
"Today's cargo owner is highly sensitive to improving system productivity, reducing transportation costs, and limiting environmental impacts of their international goods movement. Carriers are aware of their customers' desires. I believe that the Mv-Fleet management tool can markedly improve asset utilization, yielding higher productivity among ocean carriers, while reducing their costs and environmental foot-print. Its use seems like a economic-environmental "win-win" business decision to me."

Mv-Fleet™ is launched, collaboration concept has been proven
From CC&S Press Room - June 16th, 2008
"We want to bridge the gap between the maritime industry and new technologies. Our vision of transforming the freight transportation into the best industry has started" Harm Jansen, CEO of Container Consultants & Systems said.
To achieve this, CC&S provided a handful of container shipping lines with the technology as a pilot test. Now the concept of collaboration among container industry players to reduce costs and improve operations efficiency has been proven by the carriers involved in the testing period. Mv-Fleet™ is ready to be launched to the World as part of the first group of solutions to move containerisation to the next level on optimization of resources.
CC&S has offices in Panama and Brazil, and plans to open an office in USA in coming months.
This year, Panama's Science and Technology Ministry presented Container Consultants & Systems with a business innovation award for its web-based application.
